Traffic Jam is a great place to start when you want to know what bloggers write about. It is based on BlogRush an other service from John Reese, and yes also a freebie.
BlogRush is placing a widget on participating blogs, so these blogs get more traffic. But no not every blog is welcome at BlogRush. Yes you can sign up for free and submit your blog, get a widget code and place that code on your blog. That is the first part. Now you have to have frequent blog posts and these blog posts have to be of some content quality. As long as you hold to the BlogRush standards you are included otherwise you are out.

What has that to do with TrafficJam ? A lot, believe it or not, a lot. Traffic Jam is getting its data/information from BlogRush. Knowing that, it is easy to see that the information on Traffic Jam is of value and good content.

Once TrafficJam is getting a better search and hopeful also an RSS with filter, it will be a great resource for blogging ideas. Mix that with the RSS news you get from other sources and you have an endless flow of great content that you can write about.
